To Superman fans Glenn Ford will always be
known as Jonathan Kent. Who could ever watch Superman the Movie
and not be touched at the tragic death scene of Jonathan Kent.
I've often thought the best scenes of Superman the Movie occurred
in Smallville. You would be hard pressed to find scenes as
beautiful and touching as the ones following the death of Jonathan
Kent from the picturesque scenery to the magnificent music by John
Williams. But before
Superman, Glenn Ford was an already established actor best known
for his westerns, but also a great variety of other work. In fact
the song, "Rock Around the Clock" was played during the
Smallville scenes as a small tribute to one of Ford's other
classic movies called the Blackboard
Jungle. A truly great actor and one that certainly captured
the spirit of Jonathan Kent forever on film in those few short but
unforgettable scenes from Superman
the Movie.
